He appeared as chief guest to many countries like: Russia/Malaysia/America.
1978 titled as "poet laureate" and received many film awards/ government awards and other accolades from other major institutions.
Due to his ill health he remained in Chicago and on the 17/10/1981 Is when India's famous composer/ author/legend KANNADHASAN And his golden pen stopped writing. His sudden death brought shock to the cinema and the music industry of south India. His enormous contributions and the passion for his work has earned him a great respect with actors/ actresses/ film and music directors, producers and host of fans.
The street where he used to reside was called HENNSMAN ROAD Later changed to KANNADHASAN STREET. His home is occupied by his sons and the publishing company is controlled by his advocate son, GANDHI KANNADHASAN.
In memory, a life size statue of KANNADHASAN is erected in the middle of a four way road in T. Nagar - Chennai. His popularity is not only with the film industry, his books and recordings of "Arthamulle Hindu Madham" (simplified Hindu religion). Until today is, still a huge demand by the young and the young at heart.
SEGAI KISTON - a South African popular music composer has been passionate about the works of KANNADHASAN for many decades. Which not only helped him to compose many lyrics and music he also a close friend of the KANNADHASAN family.
This relationship has strengthened in so the KANNADHASAN family has given SEGAI KISTON the go ahead to host the KANNADHASAN CULTURAL CONCERT in South Africa together with the KANNADHASAN CULTURAL AWARD direct from India. South Africa is the first to host such a cultural award.

Artistes are invited to perform songs that are composed by KANNADHASAN and also to receive the KANNADHASAN CULTURAL AWARD.
